eBay Module v2 Public Beta Program

Camiloo Limited is proud to announce the upcoming launch of a public beta program for version 2 of its popular eBay integration for Magento.
Version two of the module will add support for all eBay marketplaces worldwide, as will as adding support for creation of listings, management and scheduling of listings and synchronisation of stock levels.

The program, which will launch in September, will invite developers and merchants from around the world to participate the development, specification and testing of the new version. Merchants and developers will be able to do this in multiple ways:

- By submitting feature recommendations
- By submitting bug reports
- By submitting bug fixes
- By submitting translations into other languages

During the beta, the module will become free to download. This beta version will have an expiry date, meaning that after a set date (when v2 is released as a stable version) users will need to purchase a license for the module (£199 at launch) or subscribe (£33 / month).

Beta testers who regularly contribute bug fixes / code / bug reports or who submit translations to our development team will receive percentage based discount codes for their license, and developers who contribute at high level will be able to use this discount on future copies of the module – ideal for agencies wishing to resell the module to clients.

SVN repository access will be available to beta testers, making it easy to submit bug fixes. We’ll also have a Mantis Bug Tracker installation setup, and developers will be able to access Mantis to view, reply and act on bug reports. There will also be a private forum within our forums where developers and merchants can collaborate and communicate with each other. There will also be nightly snapshot builds available as well as an auto-update option which will install these nightly snapshots onto your installation automatically.

Why are we doing this?
As eBay is widely used by merchants around the world, each with their own approach to managing eBay listings / auctions / orders and managing stock level synchronisation, we feel it is important to build on the thoughts and experiences of merchants to ensure that we deliver a high quality product which meets the needs of most (if not all) merchants who trade on eBay.

We also feel it is important to help form a stronger developer community amongst Magento developers worldwide and hope that by inviting other developers to help make this the best module for Magento, we will achieve this, and potentially can then collaborate again in future on other projects.

I’m interested – Whats next?
If you are a merchant who is interested in taking part in the beta test, we hope to have the first beta version available to test in early September.
Please keep checking our website for further information on when the first beta release is available.

If you are developer, we hope to kickstart the development of the beta at the beginning of September. Please email hello@camiloo.co.uk to register your interest.
